Speaking after\u00a0Barcelona\u2019s 3-5 defeat to Arsenal<\/a>\u00a0in their first pre-season friendly, forward Ferran Torres has underlined his stance of not wanting to leave the club this summer.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old forward has been heavily linked with a departure in the ongoing transfer window. It has been suggested that the\u00a0Blaugrana<\/em>\u00a0wish to sell him for \u20ac40 million or at least loan him out<\/a>\u00a0for two seasons to reduce their salary mass temporarily.<\/p>\n

Torres, though, has no intention of leaving Barcelona and has made it clear during his interaction with the media after the game against Arsenal, during which he was on the scoresheet.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe names \u2013 on the exit ramp \u2013 are placed by the journalists. I have a contract here, I\u2019m staying. I don\u2019t care what anyone says about me. I\u2019m going to work as hard as anyone else,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0Torres said, as quoted by\u00a0SPORT<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Torres admitted that the last season was far from ideal for him on a personal level and he took it as a learning opportunity.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m the first to be self-critical, it wasn\u2019t a good season last year but I learned a lot. These ups and downs have helped me to be stronger now,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0the Spanish international admitted.<\/p>\n

Talking about the performance of Barcelona on the night against Arsenal, Torres added:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to win, but Arsenal played very well. We lacked rhythm, we were imprecise and the pitch didn\u2019t help. Now we have to think about Madrid, train hard, and get into a rhythm.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

As iterated earlier, Torres was on target for Bar\u00e7a against Arsenal, scoring the third goal for his team in the 88th minute. Stressing on the importance of a goalscoring start for an attacker, he said:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very important for a forward to start scoring, to get off to a good start. I\u2019m going to fight for a place in the team, and let the coach decide.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
