According to a recent report from\u00a0El Confidencial<\/em>, as relayed by\u00a0Diario SPORT<\/a>, Barcelona are imminently set to activate an economic lever by selling a 16% stake in Bar\u00e7a Studios.<\/p>\n

A German investment fund will buy the stake, in a move that will bring \u20ac60 million to the Barcelona coffers.<\/p>\n

The club had earlier sold a 49% stake in Bar\u00e7a Studios to Orpheus and Socios.com last year, with each company buying a 24.5% stake for \u20ac100 million.<\/p>\n

However, both entities could not deposit the \u20ac30 million instalment payment to Barcelona in time, which has caused problems for the Catalan outfit, with regard to FFP and registration of new players and contracts.<\/p>\n

In order to fix this, Barcelona have decided to sell 16% of its stake in Bar\u00e7a Studios, but this won\u2019t come from their existing 51% stake in the entity. The club, after all, will never consider losing a controlling stake in one of its assets.<\/p>\n

Barcelona\u2019s plan to generate \u20ac60 million revenue<\/h2>\n

Instead, Barcelona have convinced both Socios and Orpheus to lower the share in Bar\u00e7a Studios to 16.5% each, because of the late payments.<\/p>\n

That would total up to 33% share, with the German investment fund now buying the remaining 16% for a fee of \u20ac60 million.<\/p>\n

This fresh infusion of cash should help Barcelona register the new signings and the new contracts of some of the existing stars.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Bar\u00e7a are confident they can generate income from a few of the other sources as well.<\/p>\n

By August,\u00a0they are hoping to come under the 1:1 rule<\/a>, which should alleviate much of the financial stress and may even allow the club to bring in more players before the season starts.<\/p>\n

The Catalans are already actively working on the plan to reinforce the attacking midfield and the right-back positions, though they are yet to find a suitable option in the market.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
