{"id":207,"date":"2023-07-28T14:48:51","date_gmt":"2023-07-28T11:48:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/barcelona.stad10.com\/?p=207"},"modified":"2023-07-28T14:48:51","modified_gmt":"2023-07-28T11:48:51","slug":"barcelona-defender-holds-talks-with-xavi-after-worrying-about-a-sale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/barcelona.stad10.com\/?p=207","title":{"rendered":"Barcelona defender holds talks with Xavi after worrying about a sale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this month,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/ligue-1-giants-make-enquiry-for-two-out-of-favour-barcelona-centre-backs\/\">reports suggested strong interest<\/a>\u00a0from European giants Olympique Marseille in two of Barcelona\u2019s out-of-favour centre-backs.<\/p>\n<p>Clement Lenglet and Eric Garcia were the two defenders in question, and their sale made sense from Barcelona\u2019s point of view considering the gross surplus in resources at centre-back.<\/p>\n<p>According to an update from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mundodeportivo\/status\/1684808341883699200?s=46&amp;t=1Rw1VYaHMEKKfPCZNK0SVg\">Mundo Deportivo<\/a>, Garcia talked to Xavi Hernandez after hearing rumours of his departure being on the club\u2019s agenda.<\/p>\n<p>The Spaniard was worried about the development as he wishes to stay in Catalonia next season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Xavi assures his trust in Garcia<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The manager, however, reassured him that he would stay at the club for the 2023-24 campaign unless an irresistible offer arrived.<\/p>\n<p>Heading into the new campaign, the\u00a0<em>La Masia<\/em>\u00a0graduate finds himself to be the fifth-choice centre-back in the manager\u2019s plans.<\/p>\n<p>Ronald Araujo, Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen, and Inigo Martinez all stake a higher claim for a starting spot.<\/p>\n<p>Keeping in mind the fierce competition in central defence, Xavi tried to use the youngster as a pivot towards the end of the last campaign.<\/p>\n<p>However, his experiments did not bear much fruit.
