Barcelona are working hard on player exits, but they have certainly not forgotten about their homegrown talents and if a report from Mundo Deportivo is to be believed, the contract renewals of Lamine Yamal and Alejandro Balde are pretty much sealed.
Journalist Fernando Pollo writes for the news outlet that the Blaugrana management wants to tie the two players into a long-term deal and they are extremely calm about the situation mostly because the players want the same.
Balde, 19, has a valid contract with Barcelona until 2024 and the player has already closed an economic agreement with the team through his agent Jorge Mendes. The team from Catalonia has been trying to extend his deal for several months now, but failure to comply with the league’s wage rule means the event was always postponed.
Given his situation, there have already been several approaches but the player is simply not interested in an exit. As for Barcelona, their idea was to tie him up until 2027, or even 2028 if possible, and the last conversation between Mateu Alemany and Mendes ended with a renewal agreement.
The Blaugrana will make the news official as soon as they are cleared from their ongoing Financial Fair Play problem.
As with Yamal, the negotiation has not reached its conclusion, as with Balde, but there is a growing sense of belief that everything is well on track and he will sign a new contract that will keep him at the club for three more years.
Interestingly enough, Yamal is also represented by Jorge Mendes and the Portuguese superagent has promised Joan Laporta that the youngster will, indeed, continue.
Because of Mendes’ word, Barcelona are calm about the whole situation and everything appears to be well on track. The team is aware of Yamal’s talent and even the manager believes that next season, he could be of great use.
