As Barcelona’s work to alleviate their financial burden continues, the Catalans could receive a small but vital boost through the sale of their former player Malcom Oliveira.
Having moved to Zenit St Petersburg back in August 2019 after just one season in the Barcelona colours, he is now close to completing a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal in a very lucrative deal that will reportedly see him net triple the salary he earn currently.
As previously reported by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona had reserved the right to 7.5% of income that Zenit would bring in from Malcom’s sale. And with Al Hilal reportedly looking to pay around €60 million for the Brazilian, Barcelona could pocket €4.5 million.
Malcom is not the only player Barcelona had included a sell-on clause for. As we reported earlier today, Real Betis left-back Juan Miranda could also fetch the Catalans around €4 million with some top clubs interested in the 23-year-old.
Having enjoyed a solid spell with Zenit in Russia, Malcom could rake in triple the salary he currently earns after his move to the Middle East, according to MD’s reports.
The left-footed Brazilian was the best player and top scorer in the Russian league and also made his Brazil national team debut not too long ago. He has caught the eye of Portuguese coach Jorge Jesús, who is reported to have expressly asked for his signing.
With the club trying to finalise the departures of a number of players, any and all extra income will be welcome in trying to stabilise the Blaugrana books to try and fall back in line with FFP regulations.
These little bits of extra income could also go a long way in Barcelona finalising the contract negotiations of multiple players which are currently up in the air, as well as the renewal of Xavi Hernandez.
